Lothin Saga is my current Viking story and as you will probably have seen, the first two episodes are on the website. It has taken a temporary back seat to writing "Sword of the Boar" - sequel to Legionaries of the Boar. Once SOTB is completed and out on Amazon, I will be able to refocus again on Lothin Saga and complete it. Something I am looking forward to as the Norse traditions feel very familiar and in some ways much more accessible than Roman ones, even in this modern age. The first time I got a chance to skim through an old Norse dictionary I was astonished how many words in English are Norse in origin. For example 'ransack' in English has a very specific and aggressive connotation, ( have you ever ransacked gently? No I thought not.) But in Old Norse 'rannsaka' simply means to search. I digress.
The saga will continue as a series of related, but stand alone episodes, possibly six in total. There is likely to be a 'berserker' episode, the character of whom has already raised his head tentatively in the first two episodes. And no Norse raiding story can be written without some sort of 'storm or shipwreck' episode. Another couple of options are cooking too.
The 'episodic' nature of it will I hope make it easier to dip in and out of the saga so that readers can select parts to read without having to start at page one every time to pick up the threads of it. My current intention is to collate the full six (or whatever number it ends up as) and release them on Amazon at some point in a single volume. If all goes well then Lothin will hopefully have reason to sail on further adventures.
All being well SOTB will be finished off at some point this summer and writing the next parts of Lothin Saga can begin from there.
